Newsletter 17: Seeds of Hope

Seeds of Hope

Last month we had the pleasure of hosting our annual gathering with our Kwazulu-Natal crafters.  It is always a time of huge excitement and anticipation for me when we get to fellowship face-to-face.  Off course there is always lots of discussion around family, food and work.  This year, I was even more excited in that we finally launched our Food Garden Sustainability Project and each family received packs of vegetable seeds for planting.  It may seem quite small and insignificant for a start, but through this we hope to create an additional income stream for our crafters using available agricultural land in their homes.  In the next few years we hope to scale this so that they are able to live off what they grow and sell the surplus.

Trigaventures

African Mamas Crafts recently turned 3 years in April this year and what a journey it has been.  We are truly grateful for the support we have received from family, friends and our customers.  We are also very grateful for an opportunity we\’ve had recently to be part of Trigaventures 2018.  Trigaventures is an NPO based in Stellenbosch, South Africa that equips entrepreneurs to scale-up their redemptive ventures and have an impact in Africa.  See group photo below and follow our journey at trigaventures.org

Maboneng

Earlier this year we expanded our operations and started trading at Market-on-Main in Maboneng.  Although it is still early days, we love the energy and entrepreneurial culture of the neighbourhood.  Find us there every Sunday at 264 Fox Street, Johannesburg – we are open from 10am till 3pm.

Fathers\’ Day

Not sure what to buy dad this Fathers\’ Day? Shop online for our beautiful range of handwoven picnic baskets which are both robust and eco-friendly.  The wine basket is handsomely designed to keep the bottle upright even when opened to prevent spillage.  With the winter season upon us, why not enjoy an indoor picnic together by the fire as a family.  To all dads – hope you build beautiful and lasting memories together with your families – Happy Fathers Day on the 17th June.

Till next month,
